Pharma Regulations to be Drafted against Redundant Drug Products

Mr. Zheng Xiaoyu, head of China's State Drug Administration, said recently that they would draft pharma regulations with an intention to eliminate redundant drug products.

Duplicated drug research is one of the major reasons for the oversupply of fake and low-quality drugs, and very few products made by Chinese pharma companies hold autonomous intellectual property rights because these companies lack the ability to innovate.

The Chinese government has started to implement GMP (good manufacturing practice), a certification for pharma. Only certified companies will be permitted to fulfill processing commissions, to start their production elsewhere and to apply to produce imitations.
