There are three types of patents in China, the invention patent, the utility model patent and the industrial design patent. Invention patent means any new technical solution relating to a product, a process or an improvement thereof. Utility model patent means any new solution relating to the shape, the structure or their combination, of a product, which is fit for practical use. Industrial design patent means any new design regarding the shape, pattern, or their combination thereof, which creates an aesthetic feeling and is fit for industrial application.
