Yes. The National Copyright Administration of the PRC is in charge of the registration of computer software. The Regulations for the protection of computer software were formulated and enacted in 1991. From May, 1 1992, the China Computer Software Registration Center begin to accept applications for software registration. At present, over 9,100 items of software have been registered. The non-substance examination system is applied. The average processing term for a registration is 2 months. With the efforts of China to accede to the WTO, the protection period for software has been extended from 25 to 50 years.
