Works of art or literature, or that convey information or ideas. These works must exist in a physical form for at least some period of time, even if only briefly. Poetry, music, literature, paintings, photographs, sculptures, videos, video games, software code, television and movie scripts, articles and are examples of copyrightable works. Ideas, however, cannot be copyrighted. The general idea of a copyright is that the actual work can be protected, but the ideas that assisted in the creation of the work can not be protected.
