In the situation described as above, are there any proposed organizational changes in China?
Yes, recent organizational changes offer hope for a less cumbersome and transparent standards procedure. Formerly, the China State Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision (CSBTS) was in charge of national electronic standards work and the State Administration of Import and Export Commodity Inspection and Quarantine (SAIQ) had law-enforcement and administrative responsibility over entry-exit quarantine, inspection, survey, quality/safety certification and accreditation, and supervision for electrical and other standards. These two organizations have been merged into the SAQSIQ. SAQSIQ will establish one China Mark (CQC - China Quality Certification Center for Import and Export Commodities) for both domestic and foreign low-voltage products. This is a significant step forward.
