What factors have led to the rise in commercial piracy?
1- Access to materials and technology- the relatively free flow of products and information across national borders and the availability of inexpensive, high quality copy technology.
2- Increasing importance of trademarks and brands- As brands and brand images become more valuable, the incentive to counterfeit these items increases
3- Technology transfer through FDI- the increase in FDI around the world has led to unprecedented rate of technology transfer and has created widespread access to all forms of intellectual property which were unavailable in many areas before.
