The snow this past weekend was nothing to man who grew up in the American Midwest! It was a nice change of scenery in the city for this surprisingly mild winter. And it made me think of all our friends and family back in America, where they are experiencing one of the snowiest winters in years. I saw some children playing in a park near my house and it reminded me of the childhood games I used to play. China and all countries are the same -- adults may complain about the cold and icy roads, but children absolutely love this season!

China's international patent filings under WIPO's Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) surged by 56.2 percent in 2010, leading the global growth in international patent filings, which saw a 4.8-percent increase over the period, the Geneva-based World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) announced at a press conference on Wednesday.

Chinese government's efforts to protect online intellectual property rights (IPR) will be strengthened this year by promoting the establishment of related industry associations, said Liu Shaodong, an official in the online broadcasting department of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT).
